I should be happier…
I’ve felt that before. Have you? It doesn’t feel fair does it?
You’ve done well, you’ve succeeded. You’re supposed to be happy now.
First, know it’s normal for it to feel shitty from time to time. As for being happy? For a time, it felt impossible for me. I had to leave law to make it happen, and I thought all lawyers might need to do the same. But since I’ve started the Happy Lawyer Project, I’ve discovered many lawyers who were able to build their happy life in law.
Want to learn how?
You’re in the right place. The Happy Lawyer book is nearly done. This is its future home on the internet. In the meantime, come find us at: leaderrising.com

Where are you on your journey?
Just Starting
Well, the Happy Lawyer Happiness Assessment is probably the place to start. I spent hours reviewing accepted measures for life satisfaction and emotional affect (that means: “how you feel”), and I cribbed the important things to put together this Happiness Assessment.
If you’re curious how I did it, why I chose the questions that I chose, and why I picked the weightings that I did, well I explain it all here (though be warned, it’s not a short read). But you don’t need to know the why to benefit from the point of view it might provide. Interested in taking the assessment? Here you are:
Already Familiar
If you’ve already read The Happy Lawyer book, or you’ve seen The Happy Lawyer Signature Talk, you might want to start with the Good Life Inventory. This tool wasn’t originally going to be referenced in the book, but as I gave the Signature Talk, I kept running into this one question: “what next?”
And so I created the Inventory to help you take inventory of your life. What’s going well, what’s not, where’s the opportunity for improvement… Sometimes we want a little more direction. If it means you’re going to start taking Intentional Action and get into the Cycle? Then I am happy to assist.
There are two formats to the Inventory. The quiz and the long form. You can do either or both. Read more here:
